Why use a feed?
If you are a property owner, agent, developer, or manager with multiple New York City rental listings, NYvacancies.com’s data feeds are an easy way to submit your listings in a few easy steps. Creating and submitting data feeds is actually quite a simple process. If you own or manage a large number of property units, or simply have a multiple listings, data feeds allow you to submit all your listings at once, instead of manually one-by-one. Simply follow our detailed instructions below for more information on how to create and submit feeds.

What feed formats does NYvacancies.com accept?

How do I create a feed?
- Open your spreadsheet program: Open Microsoft Excel or another spreadsheet program to begin.
- Create a header row: Following our template for XLS feeds, enter the names of the appropriate fields you would like to use for your listing. Please add one field per column. Please click here to see our list of acceptable fields
- Enter your listing information : Using the explanations and formatting instructions on our list of acceptable fields, fill in the appropriate information about your rentals. Each listing should appear on a separate row, with descriptive information in the appropriate field (column).
- Save your file in the appropriate format: Simply “Save As” and choose an XLS or tab-delimited format (CSV). To submit your feed, please follow the directions below.

How do I submit a feed?
- Once you have created and saved your feed file, simply create a free account on NYvacancies.com.
- After your account is created, login and click “Upload listings” on the left-hand menu.
- In the box titled “Upload file,” upload your feed file and submit.
- Allow 24-36 hours (during regular business hours) for your feed to be processed. Once the feed is processed, you will be able to view “Uploaded File Details” within your account. This will display any errors found in the feed. A confirmation e-mail will be sent once your feed has been processed.

How many listings can be submitted in a feed?
Currently there is no maximum or minimum number of listings that may be submitted. The more listings you include the better.

What fields and content do I include in the feed?
NYvacancies.com is dedicated to providing the most detailed rental listings to its users. As such, the more fields you include in your feed, the more visibility your listings will have. Simply enter the appropriate listing content in the rows below each field (see “How to Create a Feed” for more details).

How often are listings updated?
Listings can be updated as often as you choose. To refresh your feed, simply update your feed file and upload it onto the site again.

How long does it take to add my feed to NYvacancies?
Files are usually processed within 24-36 hours during regular business hours. You can check on the status of your feeds within your account under the heading “Upload Listings.” You will be sent a confirmation e-mail once your feed is live. If it has been over 36 hours and you do not see your listings live, please contact us by e-mail at feeds@nyvacancies.com.

Will my listings also appear on other websites?
Yes. Your listings will appear on a network of related sites, thus eliminating the need to resubmit to each site individually.

How much does it cost to submit my feed?
It is completely free to submit a feed.

Can I have a feed with listings assigned to different advertising packages?
Yes, using our acceptable field format list for reference, simply designate which package you would like to use for each listing. Here is an example of part of the feed:

After submitting the feed using your NYvacancies.com account, you will be shown your outstanding balance for the total cost of all featured, enhanced, and premium listings in your feed. All basic (free) listings become live once the feed is approved.

How do I pay for my enhanced, premium, and featured listings?
First you must specify which listings you would like to be enhanced, premium or featured listings using the formatting instruction in our acceptable fields list.
To make your payment, simply follow instructions for submitting a feed. Once the feed has been processed, a “Make Payment” option will appear in your account. This will display your outstanding balance for any enhanced or premium listings. Once payment has been made through your online account, the paid listings will be made live. All basic listings included in the feed will be made live once the feed is approved.
